Here is a small update on my portrait drawing of Composer Philip Glass. I wasn't able to get as much done as I had hoped. I did get some of his hair done and working on the tone of his forehead a bit.
I am still using a Pentel P205 mechanical pencil only, still no blending tools. I creating the texture of the skin by using soft and hard hand pressure while making tiny tiny overlapping circles, it's rather more of a circular motion with my pencil.
For the hair, I made upward swoops using very hard hand pressure, which drove me crazy because I kept breaking the lead. Sure I could have used a regularly 2B drawing pencil but I feel I have more control with a mechanical pencil. More to come soon!
The purpose of this blog is to share my passion and love of drawing, more specifically; the drawing of portraits. I hope to document my development in hopes of becoming a better artist. I also want to share with friends, family, and anyone who is interested what I am up to and working on.
