Here is an update on my portrait of Composer Philip Glass. I'm working on the skin tone and texture, still only using a Pentel P205 mechanical pencil with a 2B lead. Not using any blending tools.
For the skin, I'm paying close attention to the tiny hills and valleys in the skin which still have light and shadow. I added a bit of hair as well. For the highlighted hair, I'm using a Tombow Mono Zero eraser pen which I use to "draw" the highlighted strands of hair. Even though the tip is already thin, I cut the tip at an angle so I get a super thin edge.
This isn't coming out as good as I was hoping, but I'm going to continue on to finish it.
More to come soon!
The purpose of this blog is to share my passion and love of drawing, more specifically; the drawing of portraits. I hope to document my development in hopes of becoming a better artist. I also want to share with friends, family, and anyone who is interested what I am up to and working on.
